Bruno

Bruno and I met many years ago when we both worked at a wonderful marketing agency at Urca’s neighbourhood. However, since he moved to São Paulo, it’s been harder to meet up. So when he told me he was thinking about spending a week in Rio, I immediately invited him to crash at my place. He came and we spent a lovely time together, and I surely had to give him something to remember this trip once he’d be gone. Thank you my friend for passing by. Hope to see you soon. You’re always welcome!

Mairla wanted to surprise her boyfriend a special gift and commissioned with me a watercolor based on their first trip to Petrópolis. This was the first time they had traveled together and the photo is full of good memories. It was absolutely my pleasure to make this piece for dearest Mai, that always took such good care of my family.

Watercolor essentials

Sem categoria . 05 Jun 2017

05Every now and then someone asks me about the art supplies I use, so I decided to show it to you, splitting it into what I consider basic and what I consider extra, although no less important, depending on what you want to produce (and yes, its in portuguese, sorry).

The extra material is used as a complement to the watercolor, often applied before or after painting. The rectangular godê in the form of a case, thanks to the greater number of cavities, is better for organizing the desired color palette, as well as being portable, which is very nice for those who like to paint freely around town, as I do. The deep-cavity circular godê, on the other hand, is ideal for storing a larger quantity of water, making it possible to mix more transparently or to cover larger surfaces.

The dropper serves not only to keep the water from getting dirty quickly, but also to unnecessarily throw away pigments trapped in the brush when bringing water into the godê. Interestingly, my dropper is actually a baby’s nasal aspirator (lol) bought at the pharmacy. And it works like a charm!

Here in Rio de Janeiro, you can find practically everything at Caçula (Centro, Copa and S Cristóvão). I also recommend JLM – Papelaria in Largo do Machado and Papel Moderno (Tijuca neighborhood). Unfortunately, the traditional Casa Cruz closed down this year, making the internet one of the best place to find certain art supplies.

In São Paulo, I usually find what I need at Casa do Artista (Consolação neighborhood) or Fruto da Arte (República neighborhood).
